Over the years we have been constantly building and developing our timber frame ramp construction techniques to the point now we have the ultimate Timber ramp solution.
In the past timber ramps have been built very poorly by both D.I.Y er`s and amateurs masquerading as professionals. This has created very poor results that has been giving timber ramps a bad reputation. Poor material recommendations by project architects and poor timber supplies can and will have an impact on the final results. There are many factors that need to be addressed and knowledge of timber to be known in order to get the maximum performance from this great sustainable building material.
We recently designed and built the latest Skatepark addition to the Ballerup Kommune in Denmark with our new techniques.
Firstly within this design concept and considering the small budget we had to play with we decided to create something that in time with smaller amounts of money, could be developed into something that could function similar to a bowl, We Ramp-Riders even intend on supporting the development of this great public space by donating a new obstacle in 2017.
This is a modular styled construction set up.
We produced it in our workshop 4-5 weeks prior to deadline. It took 2 days to install. This is a great system as it clean, effective and creates minimum obstruction and mess to the client.
(below) all our ramps feature this overhanging ventilation system both internal and external. Correct ventilation amongst other elements is the key to outdoor timber ramp longevity.
The wish list from the local scooter riders was to have a jump box and some bowl corner elements.
With that information along with budget restrictions we went for the timeless ramp options.
We decided to create a space that integrated with its environment, the surrounding architecture and how the public would use it on a daily basis also.
(below) Our functional design makes our ramps look like they are floating when viewed from certain angles.
So this is where it started. At the Ramp-Rider workshop buried deep inside PORT4130 skatepark. What a place. If you haven`t come visit this skatepark yet you really have to get on that soon.
